Davis, the pleasant lovely town

The heart of the town is the UCD - University of California, Davis. Maybe that is why it is everything but stereotypically American. There are more bikes than cars and as much bike lanes and paths as streets. People are very sporty taking running along endless paths lined with olive trees, through farmlands and along watering places. They eat healthy food grown in their own gardens or bought at the farmers market. It is very safe, even at night in the middle of downtown and at the end of nowhere. Neighbors are meeting for potlucks or any other reason. It seems like the inhabitants take care a lot about their hometown and are very committed - they even created a Wiki for it.
The picture above leads to my gallery but there are also some really nice ones taken by my colleague Rolf.
